This is a gigantic tree with eight trunks, estimated to be 500 years old. It is designated as a protected species of the prefecture.

This name was given because the tree resembles a legendary creature called “Yamatano-orochi” when one looks up at it.
This old tree is carefully protected by the local people.

In late March, the shoots start to turn red, and it takes only three or so days for the entire tree to become a beautiful red color.
Then, the colors change from gold to green in an intriguing way.

Due to its mysterious appearance that changes at different times during the seasons, it is considered that a legendary god of “Tatara”, traditional iron craftsmanship that has been practiced for over 1,000 years mainly in the Chugoku region, dwelt in it.
